About the 16th Street name

It has been the 16th Street Mall for decades. Recently there was a push to call it “16th Street.”

Brand work for that tweak came with a reported $100,000 price tag. To remove a single word. Really? My tax dollars at work I guess.

Most people still call it the 16th Street Mall, so you will see that name on signs and websites.

What it is. A pedestrian-friendly corridor with shops, food, and public art. The Free MallRide shuttle runs the length of the street.

MallRide service. Runs early morning to late night, every few minutes. Check the live timetable for exact first and last trips.

Tip. Easiest access from Union Station or Civic Center Station. Expect crowds during events and game days.

Denver Art Museum

Hours. Sun–Mon 10am–5pm. Tue 10am–8pm. Wed closed. Thu–Sat 10am–5pm. Check for ticketed exhibits.

Tip. Evenings on Tuesday are a quieter way to see special shows.

Denver Museum of Nature & Science

Hours. Open daily 9am–5pm. Most Fridays open to 9pm.

Tip. Planetarium and giant-screen shows sell out. Grab tickets early.

Denver Zoo

Hours. Seasonal entry windows. As a guide, fall hours are typically 10am–5pm. The grounds close about 90 minutes after last entry. Verify the day’s schedule before you go.

Tip. Member early entry on select dates. Parking fills fast on weekends.

Downtown Aquarium

Exhibit hours. Mon–Thu 10am–8pm. Fri–Sat 10am–9pm. Sun 10am–8pm.

Restaurant hours. Mon–Thu 11am–8pm. Fri–Sat 11am–9pm. Sun 11am–8pm.

Tip. Adjacent surface parking. It shares demand with nearby venues on event nights.

Elitch Gardens

Hours. Seasonal schedule, including holiday events. Check the park calendar for your date.

Tip. Operating days vary outside summer. Some attractions operate weather-permitting.

History Colorado Center

Hours. Typically 10am–5pm daily. Verify the day’s hours before you visit.

Tip. Great rainy-day stop. Plan one to two hours for highlights.

Meow Wolf Denver

Hours. Daily hours vary by date and event. Check the ticketing calendar. Visitors often spend 2–3 hours inside.

Tip. Limited on-site parking. Game days affect traffic and pricing.

Molly Brown House Museum

Hours. Tue–Sun 10am–5pm. Thursdays open to 7pm. Last entry is 1 hour before close.

Tip. Guided tours sell out. Book ahead.

U.S. Mint, Denver

Tours. Free guided tours, reservations required. Tour blocks are offered Mon–Thu at set times. Tickets release online 30 days out at 1:00 a.m. MT.

Tip. Arrive early for security. No bags larger than pocket-size devices inside.
